Poetry Circle - 31st July 2010

Hi All:

It was a stern mail that had us all scurrying towards our Rendezvous to be clocked present by 6pm when the sender of the mail strolls in at 6.30. :) It was the usual crowd of faithfuls, Geethanjali, Ambika, Sivakami and yours truly. Also this time, Mr.Panicker, Chemical Engineer turned poet made his presence felt by presenting a truly alchemical poem of what the poet desires or not. Ambika also read a previously published poem that had all of us unanimously praise the poet. Geethanjali presented a marvellous poem of staccato lines of hard hitting reality. A very interesting style Geets. Should experiment on it one of these days. Sivakami presented a poem from her poetry journal. Yours truly presented a city poem - Mumbai Devi published in Prakriti Poetry Anthology, mindful of the upcoming Madras Week Celebrations. Setting the tone of sorts.

All in all, I can honestly say an evening of rare quality folks.

Latest news is that apart from the upcoming Madras Week Celebrations 15th to 22nd August where each poet is encouraged to write and present a poem, a ode, an elegy on Madras, we will be having a Haiku workshop last saturday of August by KRamesh with which we will be kicking off our very own 30/30 Haiku for the month of September. So gear up folks and make your presence felt. I personally know a lot of poets wanted to join in on the 30/30 free verse we conducted in June. So here is an advance notice of happening events.

Look out for an update on the site or check your inboxes for more information on the Haiku workshop.
