Screening of Franny Armstrong's The Age of Stupid

This much awaited film on global warming is being released across the USA on the 21st September and the global premiere is scheduled on the 22nd and 23rd of September.

THE AGE OF STUPID GLOBAL EXPLOSION
THE WORLDS BIGGEST, GREENEST FILM PREMIERE
Cited as one of the most important films of our time, Franny Armstrong’s acclaimed documentary film The Age of Stupid has been selected to screen to a global audience beamed by satellite across the world at 7pm (CEST) on Tuesday September 22nd.

The event has also just been confirmed as being an official part of UN Climate Week. The Premiere will be hosted by Kofi Annan, Gillian Anderson, the Oscar nominated film’s star Pete Postlethwaite and filmmakers Franny Armstrong (McLibel) and Lizzie Gillett in the presence of a host of A-list celebrities, leading climate activists and Heads of State arriving on the green carpet by boat, bike, rickshaw, chipfat car or skateboard to a solar-powered cinema tent in downtown Manhattan.

The film will also be screened in cinema halls and other locations in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. In Chennai the Prakriti Foundation in association with the Loyola College will host a special screening for students and media on the 23rd of September 2009 at 6:30pm.

From Berlin to Buenos Aires, from Turkey to Thailand, hundreds of cinemas in over 40 countries around the world spanning Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa will be screening the film, many with an ‘as-live’ package simultaneously and hopefully setting a new Guinness World Record in the process (for the largest ever simultaneous screening). Countries where cinemas are not able to participate will have “mini premieres” in community centres and other non-traditional venues organised by volunteers worldwide.
