Poetry with Prakriti - Poetry Contest
Once again it is poetry time at Prakriti Foundation. We take great pleasure
in announcing 'Poetry with Prakriti' a two-week long festival of
poetry being held from the 16th to the 30th of December 2008 in Chennai
to coincide with the famed Chennai season. We have planned this festival
featuring 25 eminent and emerging poets, each of whom will present four
different readings of their poems to a small and intimate audience at several
venues in the city, including colleges and public spaces.
Poets taking part are French poet Yusuf Kadel, Spanish rapper Jorge
Figuera, Tamil poet Salma, Marathi and English poet and artist Dilip Chitre,
Musician poets Vedant and Roopa Mahadevan and Anand Thakore, English
poets Robin Ngangom, Meena Alexander, Anindita Sen Gupta, C.P.Surendran,
Michael Creighton, Baiju Natarajan, Rumjhum Biswas, Rukmini Bhaya Nair,
Prabhanjan Mishra, Bhoopathy, Monica Mody, S.S.Prasad, Gopikrishna Kottoor,
Anupama Raju, T.P.Sabitha, K.Sachithanandan, journalist and poet Shruthi
Ravindran, author vasantha Surya who will read in memory of poet Revathy.
Venues partnering in the event are Oxford Book Store, AMM School, Kalakshetra
Foundation, Vel's Academy, Goethe Institute, MGR Janaki College, Meena
Muthiah College, Loyala College, Madras University's English Department,
The Park hotel, Apparao Galleries, The School KFI, Womens' Christian College,
Prakruth Galleries, Vastrakala, Shilpi, FabIndia stores, Prana, Sundari
Silks, Subway, Chamiers, Padma Sheshadri Bal Bhavan school, Gallery Sumukha,
Evoluzione, Cholamandal artists's village, Forum art gallery and Madras
Terrance House.

As part of the festival, Prakriti Foundation invites you to participate
in the Poetry Contest.
Rules of the contest are:
Age Group: Contest is open to resident citizens of India aged
16 years and above
Jury: Distinguished panel of three judges
Prizes: Three cash prizes of Rs.10000/-, Rs.7500/- and Rs.5000/-
each
Closing date: 15th December 2008. Results will be declared on
30th December
No. of entries: One poem for each contestant
Entries will be accepted in both typed hard copy form, or soft copy
sent by e-mail. All entries have to be accompanied by a declaration of
originality and automatic disqualification will occur should a fraud be
detected by the committee.
