Thomas's Ph.D. was in History of Art, from University of Michigan, Ann
Arbor with the dissertation: "Painting in Tamil Nadu". He has been
the Director of South Asian Studies Program at Davidson College, North
Carolina, USA since 1979. In 1987-1988, he received the National Endowment
for Humanities award for "Superior Scholars / Indologists in the Humanities",
through American Institute for Indian Studies. His book, "Bronzes
of Tiruvengadu" was published by CreA Madras. He has nearly completed his
book "Painting in Tamil Nadu". He has presented papers on different
subjects on art and history including Gandhism in several national and
international seminars and has contributed to several international publications
and journals. |
