Michael
Lockwood, PhD, professor of philosophy (retd.) taught at Madras Christian
College, 1966 to 1998, has published several books on Pallava art, including
"Mamallapuram and the Pallavas" and "Mamallapuram: A guide to the monuments."
He has translated and edited, with Prof. Vishnu Bhat, the 2 plays Mattavilasa
and Bagavadajjuka, written by the Pallava king Mahendravarman. Dr. Lockwood
now lives in Boston, USA.
